WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Washington business and development community is mourning the loss of Robert (Bob) David Youngentob, Executive Chairman and founding partner of EYA, LLC, who passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 64 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A visionary leader, devoted family man, and respected figure in urban development, Bob leaves behind a remarkable professional and personal legacy that has shaped both communities and lives across the Washington metropolitan region.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, and their daughters, Lisa, Jamie, and Casey (Nick). He is also survived by his parents, Eugene and Alane, brother Stuart (Bonnie), sister Suzanne Gladstone Denning (Will), sister-in-law Lauren Fryefield (Andy), and mother-in-law Carol Ablow, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Herbert Ablow.
As a founding partner of EYA, LLC, Bob played an instrumental role in transforming the landscape of urban living across the D.C. area. Over more than three decades, his leadership and innovative vision helped define EYA’s mission to create thoughtfully designed, connected, and sustainable neighborhoods that foster a true sense of community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was admired for his warmth, generosity, and optimism. Friends and colleagues describe him as a man who lived life fully — a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend, and a passionate lover of photography, travel, golf, and live music, with a particular fondness for the Grateful Dead.
Those closest to him say Bob approached life with an unwaveringly positive spirit — to him, “the cup was always half full.” His leadership style reflected that same perspective: compassionate, forward-thinking, and always focused on creating opportunities for others.
Funeral services for Robert (Bob) Youngentob will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Washington Hebrew Congregation, with interment to follow at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park in Clarksburg, Maryland.
Bob Youngentob’s passing marks the loss of a true leader — one whose influence reached far beyond his company and industry, leaving an enduring mark on the communities he helped build and the countless lives he touched.
